Zweck der Stiftung ist die Unterstützung bedürftiger Familienmitglieder, d.h. solche die unverschuldet in eine persönliche Notlage geraten sind oder für die Kosten einer guten Ausbildung. Familienmitglieder sind die Nachkommen von Herrn Dr. Clewin H. Zaeslein, von und in Basel, geboren 1919, gestorben 2000 sowie deren Nachkommen und deren angeheiratete, verwitwete und nicht wieder verheiratete Ehegatten und deren Nachkommen, nicht jedoch deren geschiedene Ehegatten. Familienmitgliedschaft kann nur durch Geburt, ausdrückliche Adoption oder gesetzliche Ehe begründet werden.
